Spring 2019: a sense of home

Everything is thawing out from winter, and it’s wonderful. It’s been many months away now. When I’m feeling a long way away from home, I’m finding my way through with:

  1. The ocean, the lakes — even when frozen, even when cold

  2. The secret languages I invent for myself: every ‘you are here’ sign is a reminder that I’m on the right track, the sliver of the moon means I’m on the cusp of something beautiful

  3. Taking photos of all the everyday things your memory won’t quite hold — the patterned wallpaper, the way the hallway tiles looked, the berries in their bright blue containers. Things that will bring back the feeling of being there more profoundly than anything else.
