Look what we made in 2021

Well, that was a big old year. Here’s some top highlights from a year of making 2021, from the rear view mirror:

1. blue patterned earrings

2. rainbows forever

3. some new shapes

4. speckled universes

Behind the scenes, pattern & patch moved out of the Underground Artspace studio in Balgowlah, Sydney (here on instagram) — where this little business truly found its feet, found its community, and where I was lucky enough to find my lovely fella, a handsome guy on the other side of the studio.

The pandemic really took its toll on a lot of small business owners. It’s been crushing to see so many brick and mortar shops turned over to ‘for lease’ signs, and so many makers trying to figure their way through uncertainty. If you’re looking for places to support for Christmas presents, here are my picks:

  1. For gorgeous odds and ends: Pinky’s Store Melbourne, and Each To Own

  2. For big handpainted pots and cacti: local legends moor in the sun

  3. For ceramic goodness: Trade the Mark and Arcadia Scott

  4. For illustrations and Australiana at its best: Jess Harwood Art
